Any way of knowing before purchase if a tire will be very difficult or easy to mount on your rims?

What’s up with the lighting in this video? Do you only own one lightbulb or are you just going for a dramatic effect?

Reggie Reginato says:

Hmm…Just a question, I have a vintage road bike. I’ve semi retired it, and only take it out a few time’s a year (dedicated weekend rides and blue skies only). Anyways, the tires on it are blue colored Continental Ultra Sport 700x23C and I’ve just realized they are now 11 years old. They look like they are in great condition – no cracks anywhere on them or any serious flaws like cuts or bubbles. In fact, even the nubs are still on them. If anything, the tread part does have a weird shine as if some applied shine to them (trust me, I haven’t). I’m thinking about old car’s, and now I’m wondering if it might be a good idea to replace them – whats your thoughts on good condition, barely worn old road bike tires?

for grip u use softer rubber.. isnt that obvious? And softer rubber wears out way quicker than harder ones… though softerones has alot of grip.

sean king says:

great, my bicycle knowledge ego has to now admit that it has learned something new today. thanks

Karl Schmidt says:

You show a Rubena Racing Pro Puncture’s fear Syrinx tyre in this episode. What are your thoughts on this cheap tyre? I have been riding on it for months, without any punctures and it’s very durable too.

I am in the process of getting ready to buy a new rear tire to replace my Specialized Armadillo tires.  I have slightly a little over 2,500 miles on the rear and it has a flat spot all the way around.  I have a little bit of tread left, not down to the cords or anything.  I will rotate the front to the rear while putting the new on the front. These are great training tires.  They are bomb proof.  I have not had one flat.  The downside is they are heavy at approx. 400 grams each if I remember correctly.

Very well apoken lad. Thanks for the helpful info!

I thought that wider tires actually work better with modern ‘U’ shape wheels to create a much more aerodynamic solution?

Tim Jones says:

Question: if you have been running 23″ tyres but want to change to 25″, do you need to change rims? Or is it purely clearance of brakes and frame that matter?

Also using 23″ im running 100psi. What would be comparable with 25″?

Any help much appreciated.

Microage says:

The solution is Schwalbe One or GP4000S2. End of story

Andrew Roden says:

really good, great job. Cheers

Nenad G says:

I typed “can the size of the tire effect the speed?” and this is the video that I came up with, and it does not make me happy because I didn’t get my question answered. Can someone please answer my question? What would happen if we take the gears of a bicycle that has standard size of the weals and install it to the smallest bicycle tire in the world, would it go faster with the same gears installed on the smallest bicycle tires in the world, or would it go faster when installed on the biggest bicycle gear in the world?
