Pure Cycles Orion | First Impressions + Bike Check

Inversion Air Pollution Gaiter 2.0 (affiliate):

I’ve consistently warned against Pure Cycles in the past if you want a bike that will give you the most bang for your buck, but as an equal opportunity reviewer, here are my first impressions of Pure’s top of the line track bike: the Pure Cycles Keirin Elite Orion.

Overall, it looks like the stars may be aligning for the company as Pure takes a welcomed detour from the cheap hi-tensile steel and deep dish wheels that they’re notorious for.

No sunshine in Scotland. It’s going to be a roasty toasty 19 C tomorrow with rain. To hot to wear water proofs, to wet not to wear them. haha. I’ll still go for a ride though.

Thanks man. Your vids are awesome. I’m just about to buy my first fixie and I’ve been loving your vids.

If it says both double and triple butted frames, it ussually means that certain tubes are made with different butting.

blazedxjan says:

Why would you try to show us the bike at night? negative 7 fixie points.

roketleyici says:

Im planning to build a track bike and i have some questions about the frame;
1-So i used the competetive cyclist’s calculator and it doesnt have a calculator for a Track frame. Would road geometry be similar to it?
2-how much standover clearance is enough?( i wanna go as high as possible)
3-and the calculator showed that i need 51.5cm for top tube(and 9.5cm for stem).Would i need a different length on the road and the track frames?
4-Would it be ok to go 1-2cm longer on the top tube?

Jason Burke says:

Zach is so embarrassed to be riding one of these, he only goes out at night on it. Hence the review in the dark. :-)

Frame is shit 6061-T6 is “base” alumnum and easy to weld with novices. welds are also sloppy. 7005 tends to be harder to weld and is generally a better frame. Pass on this shit
